The Senior Specialists are a beacon of hope for senior citizens in our community. As a non-profit organization, we are dedicated to improving the quality of life of older adults by providing essential services such as:
- Home Delivered Meals: We ensure that seniors in the community receive nutritious meals through the Meals on Wheels program. Volunteers deliver hot, well-balanced meals to the homes of seniors who are unable to shop or cook for themselves. This not only provides a daily source of nutrition but also offers regular personal contact and a safety check for seniors living alone.
- In-home Care: For seniors who need assistance with daily living activities, we offer in-home care services. This includes assistance with personal care (such as bathing and dressing), meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and companionship.
- Senior Adult Centers: Our senior adult center provides a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for seniors during the daytime. These centers offer a range of activities tailored to seniors’ interests and abilities, as well as meals and health monitoring. To promote social interaction and mental well-being, we organize a variety of social and recreational activities. These may include exercise classes, arts and crafts sessions, games, outings, educational workshops, and more. These activities allow seniors to socialize, learn new skills, and stay active, which is vital for their overall well-being.
- Senior Companion Program: The Senior Companion Volunteer Program pairs individuals who are 55 and older with seniors, adults with special needs, and their caregivers to provide care and support. Each Senior Companion Volunteer visits between two and five clients each week to assist with light housekeeping, meal preparation, companionship, and transportation.
The support provided by the Senior Specialists through these services is instrumental in helping seniors maintain their independence and dignity, and live fulfilling lives in their own communities.
Aside from the ongoing services mentioned above, this fund assists those seniors in need with food, nutritional supplements, household supplies, rent, utilities, and other in-home services like personal care or homemaker services, offering relief to seniors and their caregivers.
