Family Caregiver Support in Arkansas
We understand that you want the very best for your aging loved one, but managing their care and navigating the labyrinth of available resources, while still managing your own life, isn’t easy. Remember, you cannot care for others if you neglect to care for yourself. Overwork can lead to depression and fatigue, which can affect your life as well as the quality of care you’re giving to your loved one.
That’s why we developed several programs to help connect you with the resources and services you need to make your caregiving duties more manageable and to help ease the stress of caregiving.
Family Caregiver Support Groups
Support groups for caregivers are offered at no cost to the public, and most of our agencies can offer care for your elderly or special needs loved one while you attend the support group. No pre-registration is required except for those who need help with care for their loved one during the class.
Family Caregiver Grant Program
We also offer access to a program called the “Family Caregiver Grant Program,” which offers financial help for family caregivers of senior citizens. These grants offer short-term help and respite for caregivers. Grants are also available to help caregivers pay for respite care so they can take breaks and tend to their own affairs.
Who is Eligible to Receive Family Caregiver Support?
The only requirement for applying is that the person receiving the care must be at least 60 years old. If the person has Alzheimer’s or another type of dementia, there is no age limit. There are no income restrictions on applicants for these grants.
